#856 – Questions Are Ok

Good morning people who have questions

Matthew 11:2-6 When John heard in prison what Christ was doing, he sent his disciples to ask Him, “Are you the One who was to come, or should we expect someone else?” Jesus replied, “Go back and report to John what you hear and see: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is preached to the poor. Blessed is the man who does not fall away on account of me.”

John the Baptist questioned if Jesus was the One…yet he had been so bold earlier.

John 1:29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!”

Jesus did not harshly rebuke John for his question. He pointed to the evidence that He was the Christ and He said, “Blessed is the one who does not fall away because of Me”. In fact, have a look at what Jesus said about John just after John’s question.

Matthew 11:11 I tell you the truth: among those born of women there has not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist; yet he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.

Jesus knew that John was in a difficult place at the time of his question; he was in a prison cell. For many faithful servants of God today you find yourself in a difficult place also. Maybe some questions have been raised in your mind.

If that is you, I encourage you the same way Jesus encouraged John: Look to what God has done and don’t fall away. Jesus was gentle, gracious and understanding with John and He will be with you also.
