Good morning people who listen to everything God says
You only have to read God’s Word to know that God is interested in details. Have a look at creation and you will see incredible detail in every design. When God gives instructions, He gives very specific instructions.
Exodus 16:4-5 Then the Lord said to Moses, “I will rain down bread from heaven for you. The people are to go out each day and gather enough for that day. In this way I will test them and see whether they will follow my instructions. On the sixth day they are to prepare what they bring in, and that is to be twice as much as they gather on the other days.”
This is the verse that triggered this thought about specific instructions and then I continued reading Exodus. I encourage you to take a look at chapters 25-30 and see how much detail matters to God. In these passages God gives instructions on offerings, the ark, the table, the lampstand, the tabernacle, the courtyard, the oil, the priestly garments, the ephod, the breastplate and the list goes on. The specific details including exact size, colours, material, gems, quantity, times etc are incredible! (It’s worth a read!)
Yet so often it’s easy for us to live in the general will of God. I know some people preach this but I think it is thinking that has the potential to limit our fruitfulness, and most importantly, God’s acceptance of how we live.
I don’t want anyone to be in bondage and live in fear of missing God’s good and pleasing and perfect will (Romans 12:1). God doesn’t want that either.
I do however feel it’s important today to simply encourage us to understand details matter and to take focused time asking God for His will for our lives. I don’t think He makes it impossible to know. I do think He sometimes allows it to be a little difficult to discover but there’s a reason for that. He knows that it is in the seeking that we find and He wants us to spend the time with Him as we discover His will.
