#724 – No distractions

Good morning people looking steadfastly at Jesus

It’s very easy for Believers to be ‘distracted’ from God. Most don’t ‘walk away’ from God; it’s not a deliberate act. For most it is a distraction that just happens.

I was in prayer and found myself ‘distracted’ from fervent prayer. I hadn’t made a decision to ‘walk away’ from God or even to stop praying. In fact, prayer was my desire. Yet distraction just happened.

In that moment I simply redirected my mind back to prayer. I put distraction aside and once again began to pray.

This is so often a reflection of our lives.

Distractions come in many forms, shapes and sizes. Many distractions are not wrong, they simply aren’t the best.

Hebrews 12:1-3 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfector of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider Him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

The essence of the Christian life is ‘throwing off’ distractions and ‘fixing our eyes on God’.

Are there things in your life today that have distracted you from God? I encourage you to throw them off and I encourage you to get your eyes and your focus back on the One who made you, called you and loves you.

God bless you heaps.
