Good morning people God is leading forward
Luke 15:21-24 The son said to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.” But the father said to his servants, “Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.” So they began to celebrate.
Notice the son receives new shoes. Why?
I believe this is talking about the way we walk. When we have good shoes, we are less likely to stumble and fall. The challenge is we so often focus on getting the right shoes on so we can come close to God. We try to be good enough, to walk uprightly enough, so that somehow God might accept us and our offering that we bring.
The father gave the shoes to his son when he came near. This is very important to understand. We can’t make ourselves good enough. But we can come near to a loving heavenly Father who is willing and able to set our feet on the right path. Let God give you the shoes you need to walk well.
It’s at this point that the Father’s most surprising instruction is given.
“LET’S CELEBRATE!”
Again, there is so much we would want to say to this young man just having returned to God. There are so many instructions to be given and so many things that need to be fixed and changed, not to mention the things we need to set in place to ensure this never happens again.
But God says, “It’s time to celebrate!” And maybe this is the greatest thing we can do when someone comes to the Father; celebrate with them. Let’s not be polite and timid in our celebration; let’s follow the father’s example
