#720 – God’s Focus

Good morning dearly loved children of God

This morning I am really excited about what we see in God’s Word. Oh for the world and the Church to get a revelation of this and to start to live with God’s focus. Let’s have a look.

Luke 15:21-24 The son said to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.” But the father said to his servants, “Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.” So they began to celebrate.

Somehow we have bought into the lie that when we come to the Father, the greatest thing in our vision needs to be our shortcomings, failures and terrible sinful state; we must ensure our repentance is evident to all. It is true that we should acknowledge what we have done and ask for forgiveness but that shouldn’t be our primary focus.

The greatest focus is embracing what God has done and receiving freely and fully.

I find it incredible that in this passage the father doesn’t even take a moment focusing on the sin of the son but rather makes his focus on restoring relationship and showering with love and acceptance.

Let me shout it out loud and clear: THAT’S THE HEART OF OUR GOD!

The truth is many of us feel better if we feel bad enough for what we have done. I have been there many times in my life. But the reality is the focus is still wrong; us and not God.

As we are coming back to God, He’s ready to celebrate. Are we?
