#699 – Gift Giver

Good morning people of a giving God

There’s a story in Genesis 40 where Joseph is in prison. Pharaoh is upset with his chief cupbearer and his chief baker. Now let’s listen into something that happened and see what Joseph said that reminds us of Who God is.

Genesis 40:6 “We both had dreams,” they answered, “but there is no one to interpret them.” Then Joseph said to them, “Do not interpretations belong to God? Tell me your dreams.”

Let’s open this up a little and delve into knowing God better (Ephesians 1:17).

This verse says ‘interpretations belong to God’ and we know He gives them to men and women of faith. God is a gift-giver; in fact, He is The Gift-giver.

God is not a gift-giver like Santa Claus (let’s pretend he exists). Santa gives presents based on what people want. God gives gifts based on what is best for us. Did you hear that?

God always gives gifts out of Who He is and He is Love. Remember God doesn’t just love; He is Love.

1 John 4:8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.

And what does Love do? Love gives. Isn’t that great! Love gives His best for our best. I’m laughing with joy right now as I type this because of the beautiful truth of our God and Saviour! God is Love and He gives His best for our best. I love that!!!

1 John 4:9-10 This is how God showed His love among us: He sent (gave) His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him. This is love; not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent (gave) His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.

The Father’s best (Jesus Christ His Son) was given for our best (Eternal life and relationship with Him). The Gift-giver gave and He keeps on giving. More tomorrow!!!
