Good morning people who follow God’s ways
Joshua 6:2 Then the Lord said to Joshua, “See, I have delivered Jericho into your hands, along with its king and its fighting men.”
At this point I think Joshua would be pretty excited. Maybe he thought something like this: “God’s about to deliver our enemies into our hands! I wonder if He will use fire or an earthquake or some other display of His awesome power? Maybe He will use our military strength and ability to strategise? I know whatever He does is going to be incredible!!!”
Joshua 6:3-5 The Lord said, “March around the city once with all the armed men. Do this for six days. Have seven priests carry trumpets of rams’ horns in front of the ark. On the seventh day, march around the city seven times, with the priests blowing the trumpets. When you hear them sound a long blast on the trumpets, have all the people give a loud shout; then the wall of the city will collapse and the people will go up, every man straight in.”
I wonder if I would have stood there with my mouth open and a quizzical look on my face. Maybe I would have rubbed my ears to make sure I had heard correctly. But not Joshua, he got straight onto it. He understood God’s instructions for success are different to our natural way of thinking.
We must be spiritually minded enough to realise that a lot of marching, some shouting, seven priests and some trumpets can bring a city wall down. Who knows what God will use to bring your Jericho down?
