Good morning people who encounter God
Joshua 5:13-14 Now when Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with a drawn sword in his hand. Joshua went up to him and asked, “Are you for us or for our enemies?” “Neither,” he replied, “but as commander of the army of the Lord I have now come.” Then Joshua fell facedown to the ground in reverence, and asked him, “What message does my Lord have for his servant?”
When Joshua realised that his obstacle was a commander in God’s army, he humbled himself and he asked him what God wanted to say.
God wants to speak to us. Today God wants to speak to you. God wants to speak to me. Will we humble ourselves in reverential respect and take the time to listen?
Our victory in life, our success and satisfaction, does not come from the strength of our own hands. Our security, our confidence, our hope comes from knowing that we have heard from God.
When we have heard from God we can endure the winter. When we have heard from God we can find shelter in the storm. When we have heard from God we can move past disappointed and hurt. When we have heard from God the impossible becomes possible. When we have heard from God we can stand firm in the face of intense opposition. When we have heard from God we will not be shaken.
The question is “Have we heard from God?”
God speaks through His Word. Are you meditating on it day and night? God speaks through the Holy Spirit. Are you being sensitive by guarding what goes into your mind and listening for that still small voice? God speaks through other people. Are you secure enough and humble enough to receive God’s Word from God’s people?
I wonder what God would like to say to you today?
