Good morning people focused on serving God
Joshua 3:7 and 4:14 And the Lord said to Joshua, “Today I will begin to exalt you in the eyes of all Israel, so they may know that I am with you as I was with Moses…That day the Lord exalted Joshua in the sight of all Israel; and they revered him all the days of his life, just as they had revered Moses.
Many seek to become great. Many seek promotion and recognition. Many want fame and fortune. Many want places of position and power. It’s about title. It’s about who knows us and who we know. Well at least that’s the world’s way.
God is an up-side-down God. In fact, His kingdom has been described as an ‘up-side-down kingdom’. The way God does things in His kingdom is the opposite of how the world operates. Being exalted is just one such inverted principle.
In the world, you have to make it happen. You push. You get acquainted with ‘important’ people. You focus on leadership. You focus on reaching the top. You focus on prominence. There’s a heck of a lot of ‘you’ in the equation.
In God’s kingdom, God makes it happen. We give. We love and reach out to everyone. We focus on serving others. We focus on doing everything as unto the Lord. We focus on making God known and honouring Him above all else. There’s a heck of a lot of ‘others’ in God’s equation.
Jesus summed it up best when He settled a dispute among his disciples about who was the greatest.
Mark 9:35 Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, “If anyone wants to be first, he must be the very last, and the servant of all.”
Think about some of the other up-side-down principles in God’s kingdom.
