Good morning people who respect the things of God
We must not become over-familiar with God. On one hand we are encouraged to ‘draw near to God and He will draw near to us’. We also have the assurance of ‘a Friend that sticks closer than a brother’. The balancing act that we sometimes have is drawing near while keeping a healthy respect.
The Bible talks a lot about the ‘fear of the Lord’. This is not talking about fear and trembling; being afraid. It is talking about having a holy reverence, awe and respect for God. It is good for us to remember who He is; how great and awesome and majestic and powerful Almighty God is.
Joshua 3:4b,5 and 5:14b,15 “Keep a distance of about a thousand yards between you and the ark; do not go near it”. Joshua told the people, “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you.”…Then Joshua fell facedown to the ground in reverence, and asked him, “What message does my Lord have for his servant?” The commander of the Lord’s army replied, “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy.” And Joshua did so.
Our God is wonderful, loving and kind
