Good morning people with integrity
The two spies in Jericho told the prostitute the conditions of her and her family being saved in the upcoming attack. Her response is a challenging statement for all of us today.
Joshua 2:21 “Agreed”, she replied, “Let it be as you say.” So she sent them away and they departed. And she tied the scarlet cord in the window.
All she had to go on was their word. But their word was enough for her. Something in her knew that they could be trusted. Can the same be said about us?
Now remember who the two parties are here. They are enemies; they are the spies who are about to attack and destroy Jericho and all the inhabitants of it, including this woman. They were miles apart in their character and godliness; they were children of Israel who were obeying the commands of God and she was a prostitute, a woman of very questionable character. They knew who she was and she knew who they were. Yet when they spoke, she believed them.
Integrity is an essential part of Christ-like character.
It’s easy to speak honestly with your friends but here’s the challenge today: How honest are you with your enemies, those who are opposing you?
Let it be as you say.
