#604 – Mysterious Ways

Good morning people perceptive to God’s leading

There’s an old saying ‘God moves in mysterious ways’. It’s true. God spoke through a donkey, He healed a blind man by slapping mud (made from His spit!) on the man’s face, He made a prophet lie naked in the street as a prophetic declaration, He had another prophet marry a prostitute as a prophetic statement, He told Abraham to kill his son who was the fulfilment of the promise God gave and He chose to use a deceptive prostitute as an alley to the Israelites in the conquering of Jericho!

Joshua 2:1,4-6 Then Joshua son of Nun secretly sent two spies from Shittim, “Go, look over the land.” he said, “especially Jericho.” So they went and entered the house of a prostitute named Rahab and stayed there…But the woman had taken the two men and hidden them. She said. “Yes, the men came to me, but I did not know where they had come from. At dusk, when it was time to close the city gate, the men left. I don’t know which way they went. Go after them quickly. You may catch up with them. (But she had hidden them under the stalks of flax she had laid out on the roof.)

Man, God’s ways are so much different than ours! He does things I would never do! He uses people that I would never use! And there in lays a potential promise for many of us.

Do we sometimes miss what God is doing because of the vessel through which He chooses to do it?

Use a prostitute to fulfil God’s purpose?! I never would have thought of that!!!

Use your difficult boss to bring about the character of God in you?! I never would have thought of that!!!

Use your financially difficult situation to make you more dependent upon God?! I never would have thought of that!!!

Use a small child to teach us the lesson of forgiving quickly and trusting again?! I never would have thought of that!!!

Maybe, just maybe, God works differently to us and our prayer should be “Father, help me not to miss what You are doing today.”
