#6027 – Famous or Fruitful?

Good morning people who do all that you do for the glory of God.

Do we want to be famous or fruitful?

John 15:5 NIV “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”

How much is it about what people say or think about us versus what God sees us do in secret and the motivation of why we do what we do in public?

Motivation really does matter.

God is looking for purity of heart, both in our motivation and in the expression of what we do. In every moment, our highest desire should be that God is glorified and that He is honoured by us.

There’s been a lot of talk over the years about ‘the audience of One’. This is talking about doing everything for the Lord. This is a wonderful reminder to us all today that there is no separation between sacred and secular when it comes to our heart motivation. All is to be done for the glory of God.

Colossians 3:17 NIV And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Colossians 3:23-24 NIV Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.
