Good morning people who are recipients of the loving kindness of Jesus Christ.
When Jacob died, Joseph’s brothers were terrified that Joseph would now pay them back according to their sins against him. Many believers still live with this same fear when it comes to God. But here’s Joseph’s response:
Genesis 50:19-21 NIV But Joseph said to them, “Don’t be afraid. Am I in the place of God? You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives. So then, don’t be afraid. I will provide for you and your children.” And he reassured them and spoke kindly to them.
Joseph said that he is not God and therefore it is not his place to hold their sins against them. He had forgiven them. Jesus has forgiven us when we repent.
Joseph clearly states that God’s plan was always about saving many lives. And this is exactly why Jesus came to the world – to seek and to save the lost.
Joseph promised to provide for his brothers and for their children. Jesus has also provided all that we need through His death, burial and resurrection. Through Christ, we are now heirs of God.
Joseph spoke kindly to his brothers who had previously wronged him terribly. Jesus is also full of kindness and compassion for us.
Joseph’s life shows us so much about our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
As we approach Christmas in a couple of days, let us take time to meditate on His heart for all people. God the Son became the Son of Man so that you and I can come into a living relationship with the Father.
And He did this for our children too! Generations are on God’s heart. The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is your God and He desires to be the God of your children and their children too.
In this Christmas season, I sincerely pray that you and your family know what it is to receive the loving kindness of the Lord Jesus Christ. I pray this Christmas is marked by new life in Jesus. Amen.
