Good morning people who make the decisions necessary to walk in holiness.
Genesis 39:10 NIV And though she spoke to Joseph day after day, he refused to go to bed with her or even be with her.
I know we spoke about this yesterday, but Father has drawn me to something deeper He wants to say. The reason He is leaning us into this is because He truly wants you and I to walk in freedom – this is His desire for His children.
Joseph did not only refuse to go to bed with Potiphar’s wife, but he also refused to even be with her.
The following scripture comes to mind:
Matthew 18:8-9 NIV If your hand or your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life maimed or crippled than to have two hands or two feet and be thrown into eternal fire. And if your eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into the fire of hell.
This scripture is not talking about a physical mutilation of the body as some kind of penitence or seeking God’s approval. Not at all. This is intense language that Jesus used to make a strong point of what it takes to walk in a way that honours the Father. Half-hearted won’t do.
I feel the Holy Spirit say to some today, “Guard against the thought ‘I should be able to do this’.” Please listen to me.
Sometimes it is not about a clear ‘right or wrong’. Sometimes it is about what is best for us. The measure is not about what others can do, but about what will keep you in the place of purity and right standing with God.
Gone are the days where ‘close enough is enough’. God is calling us to ‘not have a hint of sexual immorality’. This requires decisive action. This requires ‘doing whatever it takes’ in order to make our Father smile. This is not about striving, but about intentionality and about ‘no excuses’.
Are there areas that come to your mind today that you know God is saying, “Don’t go there”?
If so, what will your response be – justification or obedience? These are the only two options.
It’s time to choose wisely and live in our God-given freedom. It’s time to honour the Father by the choices that we make.
