Good morning people who are most blessed to spend eternity with God.
Luke 10:20 NIV “However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”
What do you rejoice about the most – miracles here and now or your eternal assurance of salvation?
The disciples returned from their missionary journey celebrating all that God did through them. I believe heaven was rejoicing about this too. Demons being cast out is part of the evidence that the kingdom of God has come. Praise God!
But Jesus put His finger on something very important, and it is still important today.
The disciple’s focus was not just about what God did in people – this is awesome – but their language was about what happened through them. Read what they actually said:
Luke 10:17 NIV The seventy-two returned with joy and said, “Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.”
There’s a fine line between a right God confidence and celebration, and a focus on self. There is a marked difference between the language of look what God has done and look what we can do in Jesus’ name.
The Lord wants to highlight today the incomparable significance of our eternal assurance. In the waiting for your miracle, don’t forget that you will be spending forever and ever in the glorious presence of God! Oh, how wonderful!
May this reality drop deep in our hearts today and may it overflow with gratitude to our God.
