Good morning people who are wise enough to stay far away from danger and destruction.
Proverbs 5:8 MEV Remove your way far from her, and do not go near the door of her house.
As we lean in further today, please don’t reduce immortality simply down to adultery or fornication, but rather, let’s know that God is also talking about pornography and lust (a longing for what is forbidden by God) in any form.
When it comes to immorality in all its forms, you are not strong if your desire is to get as close to the line without stepping over it, you are foolish. I must love us all enough to speak the truth boldly.
The biblical command which is given for our freedom in Christ is this: Stay as far away as possible!
I love the clarity, simplicity and directness of this proverb above. The writer says to remove your way from her. And then he follows up by saying to not even go near her door. In other words, STAY AWAY!
For you, what does this mean?
Maybe Father is highlighting that you shouldn’t watch that program or google that thing.
Maybe Father is saying that you shouldn’t go to that place or hang out with that person.
Perhaps Father is simply but clearly saying to raise the standard to ‘not a hint of sexual immorality’ (Ephesians 5:3).
When Joseph was tempted by Potiphar’s wife, he did not stay and resist her, he fled from her. This is the standard that we should all live by – run away!
Here’s an interesting thought. We are told to ‘resist the devil’ and ‘flee youthful lusts’. We get ourselves into trouble when we reverse these: we ‘flee the devil’ and we try to ‘resist youthful lusts’. No! Fight the devil and run away from temptation! Get out of there! Stay away! Don’t even go close to the line!
In this pursuit, you will find deeper freedom and life.
