#5700 – Honouring Parents

Good morning people who release the favour of God through how you treat your parents.

Proverbs 1:8-9 MEV My son, hear the instruction of your father, and do not forsake the teaching of your mother; for they will be a garland of grace on your head, and chains about your neck.

I’m about to write on what might be a sensitive subject for some, and it may open controversy for others. I do not want to offend anyone, and I admit that this is an area where there are many layers and angles.

That said, I equally know that the devil has sabotaged this essential biblical truth, and it has been a contributor to the state of our society and to many believers’ lives. So, let’s dive in.

It’s time for honouring your parents to be restored. This is a common theme throughout the Book of Proverbs, and yet it is largely overlooked today. It is not without profound reason that God included this very command in a short list of only ten that He spoke to Moses for the Children of God. Each of these still applies today.

Exodus 20:12 MEV Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which the Lord your God is giving you.

Honouring your father and your mother does not have a used by date. In other words, this is not just for young children, but it is for every person, regardless of age.

I am fifty years of age, and it is my delight and my joy, as well as my protection, to hear the instruction of my father and the teaching of my mother, even now at this stage of my life. Why? Because I understand this biblical principle and the God who spoke it.

Is it possible that not honouring your parents might be part of your present problem?

May the Spirit of God lead every person today as He leads us deeper into His truth.
