Good morning people who want the best for others
Hebrews 12:14-15 Make every effort to live in peace with all men and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord. See to it that no one misses the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many.
We are instructed to ‘make every effort to live in peace with all men’. But what do we do when our best doesn’t make a difference to a negative situation?
I’m sure we have all had these situations.
Does the fact that they have rejected our efforts give us permission to then treat them badly or speak about them negatively? Does it mean “Oh well, I tried. There’s nothing more I can do!”
I believe the greatest thing we can do, even after making every effort, is to continue to pray for them, and specifically pray God’s blessing on them. This is not always easy to do but I believe it is powerful. It is also a great antidote to ensure anger and bitterness does not creep into our own hearts. It’s impossible to sincerely pray God’s best on someone and be resentful at the same time.
When we see as God sees and feel as He feels, we will be moved with compassion for others, especially those who need God’s grace and forgiveness. Let’s love those that we have a broken relationship with enough to keep on praying for them and blessing them. Let’s allow God to move by the way we respond.
