Good morning people who have been welcomed into the family of God.
Ephesians 2:19 NIV Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household.
This verse starts with the word ‘consequently.’ In other words, because of what Paul just wrote, the following is true.
So, what is the context of what Paul is about to say?
Ephesians 2:18 NIV For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.
Because of what Jesus Christ accomplished for us on the cross of Calvary, we have access to the Father by the Holy Spirit of God! This means that we are no longer foreigners and strangers to God!
God knows you, God loves you, and because of your faith in Christ Jesus, the Father declares that you and I are citizens of heaven with God’s people, and we are all members of His household! Praise the Lord!
Too often the question is about which church you are a member of. Now, I one hundred percent believe in the local church which is part of the one global church, and that is, the church of Jesus Christ. We need to be ‘fitly joined together’ with other believers in the body of Christ. I can’t stress this enough.
But the greater focus should be on the eternity-changing truth that we are now members of God’s family! This is literal! We are now sons and daughters of the Father in heaven. Never forget that God is called ‘our Father’ for a reason, and that reason is because He is actually our Father!
As we head towards Christmas, my prayer is that every one of us will encounter the Father more deeply through the Son and the Holy Spirit. May His heart for you be revealed more and more, as together, we find our true worth as children of God – for this is who we are.
