Good morning people who God sees through the lens of His own goodness.
Psalms 25:7 NIV Do not remember the sins of my youth and my rebellious ways; according to your love remember me, for you, Lord, are good.
My prayer is that life and hope will flow to you today as we meditate on the truth of God’s Word through the prayer of David.
In essence, David is saying to the Lord, “If You remember something about me Lord, please don’t let it be the sins of my youth and my rebelliousness ways. In fact, if You remember something about me, let it actually be me that You remember; not just something I did, but me. And please remember me – please see me – according to Your love because You are good.”
The truth is, not one single person is good enough to be accepted by God. By this, I mean, the goodness to be accepted by God comes from His goodness, not ours. Our best is woefully insufficient – God knows this – and yet He embraces those who turn to Him in humility and trust; trust in Him, and not in ourselves.
‘According to God’s love’ – these words should mark our lives and order our steps. It was God’s love that sent His Son Jesus into the world in order to reconcile sinful people to the loving embrace of the Father.
And He didn’t wait until we marginally improved ourselves by our best efforts. Not at all. While we were sinners, Christ died for us. Before we did a thing, God did everything!
Lord, see Your children today. Lord, reveal Your love and Your goodness to every person reading this devotion. Baptise people in Your love and in Your goodness. Amen Father.
