Good morning people who live continually connected to the source of light.
Psalms 18:28 NIV You, Lord, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light.
Light and darkness – it’s an interesting part of life. From the beginning, God created light, and from the beginning, God separated light from the darkness. From the beginning, God saw that the light was good. Our God is the God of light; this is who He is.
And in today’s verse, there is a wonderful truth that the Lord keeps our lamp burning. Yes, in some ways we are to stoke the fire of our lives; we are to be intentional about feeding ourselves and fueling ourselves with what is from God.
But the source of our light is God Himself. Therefore, what I feel the Father say to us today is this: “Stay plugged into Me and I will keep your lamp burning.” Now, that’s wonderful!
But our gracious Father doesn’t stop there. His promise is not just to keep our lamp burning in the good times and the easy times. In fact, the amplification of Father’s intention through David’s prayer in this Psalm is that He will turn our darkness into light. How? By us staying connected and plugged into the power source Himself!
I believe we need a deeper revelation that God is not scared of the dark. Think about this. Our God is not the slightest bit scared of the blackest black! He is not intimidated by anything, including darkness.
I love what David said in a later Psalm about God and darkness:
Psalms 139:11-12 NIV If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,” even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you.
When we think that even light will become night, God wants us to know that darkness is as light to Him! In other words, He is the God of everything and He is supreme over everything! Fear itself fears God!
So, my prayer for you today is that you will encounter the light of God in your life – yes, even in the midst of the dark times.
