#5588 – Completely Dependent

Good morning people who always need God for everything in your life.

John 5:30 NIV “By myself I can do nothing; I judge only as I hear, and my judgment is just, for I seek not to please myself but him who sent me.”

Jesus is speaking in this verse, and He said about Himself, that He can do nothing by Himself. Sometimes we gloss over or skim over the words of Jesus. We need to sit in them and hear the weight of what He is saying.

The eternal Word and Son of God said clearly and repeatedly in scripture that He only does what He sees His Father doing, and that He can’t do anything by or of Himself. This is what He said and this is what He meant. It is a truth.

So, how is it that, too many times, we think we can live life successfully outside of full and continual dependence on God? How is it that we sometimes live like we can do this better than Jesus?

We need God fully, always, completely, for everything…if we want it to count eternally and if we don’t want it to be burned up by fire. Now, that’s the truth!

The following words of Jesus are so well known, and yet they are as true for you and I as the day that Jesus uttered them:

John 15:5 NIV “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”

May we live like Jesus lived, and as a result, may we please the Father.
