Good morning people who move past your disappointment in God.
John 5:5-6 NIV One who was there had been an invalid for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, he asked him, “Do you want to get well?”
Hang on, let’s read these verses again. Here’s a man who has been an invalid for thirty-eight years. He is positioned by the pool of Bethesda where people received their healing. Clearly he was there because he desperately wanted to be healed.
And then along comes Jesus. Clearly this man’s miracle was about to happen! He waited for Jesus to speak a word of healing, and as a result, a miracle would be his. Jesus’ lips began to move, so the man leant forward to hear the faith-filled words of authority from Jesus.
“Do you want to get well?” Jesus said.
Excuse me! Are you serious! Of course this man wanted to be healed!
Now, in addition to physical healing, this man needed to overcome an offence at the One whom he had heard could heal the sick. And this is the same position many of us find ourselves in today.
Are you offended at Jesus? Are there things that ‘should have’ happened by now but you are still waiting on? Has God said things to you that you didn’t want to hear, and has He been silent on things that you desperately wanted to hear Him on?
If so, I pray that God meets you right where you are at. I pray that this will be the day when you encounter the love of God, whether it be in the action of God or the stillness of God. And through it all, my prayer is that we enter into deeper revelation that we are eternally and infinitely loved by the One who is most for us.
