Good morning people whose light comes from the life of Jesus Christ.

John 1:4-5 NIV In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

Life can only be found in Jesus. He is not a way – He is the way. He is not a truth – He is the truth. He is not a life – He is the life. Jesus is life!

And His life is the light of mankind. Who Jesus is illuminates our very existence!

Jesus Himself said the following words about all of those who were and who would become His disciples:

Matthew 5:14 NIV “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.”

Wow! Yes, Jesus is the Light of the world, but we are also called to be the light of the world.

But here is the really good news: we don’t have to generate our own light! That’s right, this light doesn’t originate in us. The light who we are called to be comes from Jesus’ life in us! (Please read our opening scripture again as it makes this very clear.)

John follows this astounding truth with a bold and powerful declaration that we need to anchor ourselves to today. Here’s what he effectively said:

“The light in you that comes from Jesus’ life is so powerful that no demon or devil can overcome it! Nothing is greater than the life of Light who is in you!”

Praise God for the indescribable reality of knowing Jesus!
