#5521 – Getting Advice

Good morning people who are careful who you are listening to and receiving from.

Psalms 1:1 NKJV Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful.

Yes, some unbelievers can give wise counsel. That said, the Bible is saying something clearly here that we should give heed to.

The word counsel here means advice, and the word ungodly means morally wrong. This takes on a whole new meaning.

Believers are not meant to walk in the same way as those whose beliefs are morally wrong. We are not to get our advice on what is right and wrong from the ungodly.

I don’t care what degrees a person has after their name, or what accolades have been heaped on them – if they give counsel that is contrary to the Word of God, don’t listen to them. If they give counsel that makes you question God or His authority, don’t listen to them.

In fact, run! I mean it – get away from drinking from that polluted well.

It’s time to be wiser about who we listen to and who we learn from.
