#5492 – So Much Better

Good morning people who understand that the Father is infinitely good to us.

Luke 11:11-13 NIV “Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!

If we are not careful, we will incorrectly think that God is just a little bigger and better than we are. In fact, we can easily slip into the mindset that we know better than God. We couldn’t be more wrong.

As natural parents, most people won’t intentionally give harmful things to their children. In fact, most parents love to give good things to those whom they love so much.

And yet in comparison to the Father, the difference between His love for us and our love for our children is articulated as us being evil and Him being lavishly good.

And it doesn’t stop there.

Jesus makes it clear that the thing the Father really wants to give us is the Holy Spirit. There is no greater gift to God’s children than the very person of the Holy Spirit living in them, leading them and empowering them.

But we need to ask the Father for the Holy Spirit. And this is not just once in order to be born again. This is an ongoing daily earnest desire to be filled continuously with the Holy Spirit.

This is one of the deepest restorations that is happening in the body of Christ right now – an increased awareness of and desire for more of the Holy Spirit. Father loves the satisfied heart that continues to yearn for more!

Are you hungry and asking for more of the Holy Spirit in your life?
