Good morning people who dive below the words in order to encounter the Truth.
James 4:7 NIV Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
Here’s a verse that I have quoted many times, and I’m guessing, many of you know it very well.
So, let’s use this verse to look a little deeper, and may life flow to you from the Holy Spirit.
Submit (comes from two words); ‘under’, and ‘to arrange in an orderly manner’.
God: the supreme Divinity’.
Resist (comes from two words): ‘opposition’ and ‘to stand’.
Devil: ‘to traduce (to speak badly of or tell lies about someone so as to damage their reputation), to accuse’.
Flee: ‘to run away’.
Therefore, James 4:7 can rightly be paraphrased like this:
Arrange yourself in an orderly manner under the supreme Divinity. Stand in opposition to the traducer; to the accuser who speaks badly about you and tells you lies so as to damage your reputation. The result is, he will run away from you.
As always, the order of this is important. The accurate starting point is always our connection and position to God. Everything else flows from this.
Are you truly living under the Lordship of God?
