#538 – Righteousness

Good morning righteous people

Matthew 5:6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.

Oh how we need to be passionately desiring God and the things of God. We need to seek His face and not just His hands. We need to seek the Giver of life and not just the gifts He so freely gives. We must hunger and thirst after righteousness.

Righteousness is ‘uprightness and right standing with God’. Righteousness is ‘equity (of character or act); specifically (Christian) justification’.

We must understand this. Our hunger and thirst is not simply to know about God, to have deeper spiritual revelation. Our hunger and thirst must be to walk in a way that is pleasing to God. Our hunger and thirst must be to live life with godly character; character that accurately reveals the God we talk about.

The result of living life like this is it firstly deepens our intimacy with God. You see the more we are like Him the closer we will feel to Him. Another important result is our righteousness with God affects our human relationships. Some have said that righteousness is ‘being in right standing with God and man’. I believe that the fruit of righteousness is favour with man. Joseph was a righteous man and he had incredible favour with God and man.

I encourage you to spend some time fasting and praying with a focus of hungering and thirsting after righteousness. The world needs you to be red-hot for God and the things that are important to Him.
