#537 – Earnest Hunger

Good morning those who earnestly seek God

Matthew 5:6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.

There are many passionate people in the world. In fact, everyone is passionate about something. Some of the passions people have are family, friends, sports, work, success, pleasure, food (more specifically chocolate!), travelling, reading, music and the list goes on and on. Every person is passionate about something.

But where are those who are passionate about God and the things of God? Don’t misunderstand me, there are plenty out there but we need lots more! We need people that make God the absolute centre of their lives; people that honestly say “It’s all about God”. The world needs people that are more passionate about God than anything else. That’s right, more than anything else.

This verse uses the words ‘hunger’ and ‘thirst’. This is not talking about feeling like you want a little snack an hour after you’ve had a large meal. These words are talking about ‘to famish (like you are in a famine with no food) and to crave (I MUST HAVE THIS!!!!). There is nothing passive or lukewarm about this language or intention.

God is looking for people who are desperate to be in a right place with Him. Are you one of the people who are hungry and thirsty for righteousness?
