#5353 – Prayer & Instruction

Good morning people who pray for others and commit to God’s truth.

1 Samuel 12:23 NIV “As for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord by failing to pray for you. And I will teach you the way that is good and right.”

This is a very interesting statement from Israel’s prophet.

Samuel knows that the children of Israel continue to be rebellious and sin against the Lord. With this knowledge, it’s very easy to get into the mindset of, “Well, you’re on your own!”

But instead, Samuel shows us an important truth of the need to continually pray for the people of God. In fact, he says, “If I don’t pray for you, I’ll be sinning against the Lord.” WOW!

Why is this?

The reason was, these were God’s chosen people.

This was about Samuel fighting in the Spirit on their behalf for the Lord’s sake. Again, this was about Samuel honouring the reputation of God; this was about Samuel praying for God’s people for His name’s sake.

In addition to praying for the people of God, Samuel committed to teaching them the way that is good and right.

People need prayer and people need instruction, and the instruction that is needed is instruction in God and His kingdom ways.

It is time for God’s people to return to God’s Word as the supreme authority in our lives.
