Good morning people God cares about
Matthew 5:4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
Yesterday we said life is tough and we all have times where we need to be comforted.
Firstly we need to look to God as our Source, and not man.
Secondly we need to look for peace in the storm, not the removal of the storm. This is an important point. Sure it is true that Jesus sometimes calms the storm but many times the storm continues for a season and often that season is much longer than we would like.
There is a story (you can read it in Mark 4:35-41) where Jesus and His disciples were in a boat and they were caught in a huge storm. Jesus did end this storm quite quickly but He also made a strong statement.
Mark 4:40 He said to His disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”
You see in verse 35 Jesus said, “Let us go over to the other side”. Jesus was directing their steps and the Bible tells us that our steps are also ordered by the Lord when we are submitted to Him. With this assurance should come a revelation that nothing can happen to me outside of God’s permissive will. I know this is a tough one to understand and accept but it is essential. Jesus’ desire was for the disciples to get comfort from the fact that they were with Jesus. Sure they were in a storm, but again, they were with Jesus.
You might find yourself in a storm and it may last awhile. But your comfort, my comfort, must come from an assurance that we are with Jesus. We need to look to Him as our Source of comfort in the middle of the storm. He’s there and He’s our Sufficiency.
