Good morning people who keep your focus on the eternal realm of God.
John 16:4-6 NIV “I have told you this, so that when their time comes you will remember that I warned you about them. I did not tell you this from the beginning because I was with you, but now I am going to him who sent me. None of you asks me, ‘Where are you going?’ Rather, you are filled with grief because I have said these things.”
This is interesting.
Jesus accurately told His disciples – and He wants us to hear it today – that persecution and opposition will come because of the Gospel. This is not something to be trivialised or taken lightly.
But Jesus also said that He is going back to the Father. Get this today. He is saying something that is beyond human comprehension. He is talking about going from the temporal into the eternal. He is telling them that He knows the future, and that His future is in heaven with His Father. He is declaring I am the Son of God the Father!
And this doesn’t get their attention because they were filled with grief because of what Jesus said would happen to them.
I feel to encourage us today to keep our eyes on the eternal realm, not just on the natural realm. We will also be spending eternity in the very presence of God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ!
The following Scripture really clarifies this important focus:
Hebrews 12:1-3 NIV Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
