Good morning people with a perfect God
Matthew 3:13-15 Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptised by John. But John tried to deter Him, saying, “I need to be baptised by You, and do You come to me?” Jesus replied, “Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfil all righteousness.” Then John consented.
Jesus being baptised was an amazing statement of His humility and showed the importance of this spiritual requirement
Matthew 3:11 says ‘baptism in the water is for repentance.’ Jesus had nothing to repent of, so why did He do it? I believe primarily to show us baptism is essential.
John knew Jesus was sinless and didn’t need to be baptised. In fact, he asked Jesus to baptise him. This is another sign of John’s right perspective of His need for a Saviour.
Jesus, the Creator, perfect and sinless, humbled Himself to the created, and went through the waters of baptism. What humility! What an example!
