#5143 – The Spirit Reminds Us

Good morning people who hear the words of Jesus through the Holy Spirit.

John 14:25-26 NIV “All this I have spoken while still with you. But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.”

God is the Word and the Word speaks. As the eternal Word, Jesus spoke many things when He was walking this earth. Every word was truth and every word contained life. Why? Because Jesus is the truth and He is the life!

As Jesus was getting ready to leave the earth, He gave the most remarkable promise. He said that His Father will send us the Holy Spirit in His name.

Before we move on, don’t miss the beautiful union and function between the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. One of my greatest delights is seeing all three persons of God, spoken of in perfect oneness, in the same scripture. I love it!

Jesus tells us that one of the reasons the Holy Spirit will be sent (has now been sent to us) is to teach us all things and remind us of everything that Jesus said. Yes, we receive power from the Holy Spirit, but Jesus needs us to know that the Holy Spirit yearns to lead us into all truth; into all that Jesus is and all that Jesus has said.

If something is important in my life, I write it down and I also put it in my calendar or set an alarm to remind me. My point is that I don’t just rely on my natural memory to ensure I remember something important.

How much more do we need help to remember and rightly handle the Word of God! And this is precisely what Jesus promised that the Holy Spirit will do! Oh how wonderful is our personal and intimate God!
