Good morning anointed people of God
Matthew 3:1-6 In those days John the Baptist came, preaching in the Desert of Judea and saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.” This is he who was spoken of through the prophet Isaiah: “A voice of one calling in the desert, ’Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for Him.’” John’s clothes were made of camel’s hair, and he had a leather belt around his waist. His food was locusts and wild honey. People went out to him from Jerusalem and all Judea and the whole region of the Jordan. Confessing their sins, they were baptised by him in the Jordan River.
John’s message was simple. He was not trying to build an organisation, his clothing was shabby and his diet was less than desirable yet multitudes flocked to hear him and confessed their sins and were baptised. He was obviously anointed by God for the task.
Sometimes our messages are complicated, we are building amazing organisations, we are dressed to impress and we dine with kings yet we see limited fruit. John’s focus was simply to prepare people to meet Jesus. May we do that too and see the fruit God intends.
