#5093 – Power & Rest

Good morning people who lean into and receive the fullness of Christ’s finished work.

2 Corinthians 12:9 NIV But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.

I find this highlighted part of this well known verse very interesting.

Normally power is associated with and released by effort. If someone is lifting heavy weights, power is required, and it released through effort, not rest.

But Paul had a revelation that Christ’s power was intended to rest on us.

Now this does not mean to sit down and do nothing; it is not a ‘ceasing from’ kind of rest.

The word rest here means to tent upon; to rest upon. Beautiful.

Even when we have weakness in our flesh, God’s grace is sufficient for us and God’s power can rest upon us. This truth itself is very powerful if we can step into it by faith.

I’ve said it before and I will no doubt say it again: We have what we need if we have who we need. God is enough!

Today I release the grace and the power of God on you my dear friends. In your weakness and challenges, I pray that you receive a revelation of Christ’s sufficiency through God’s Holy Spirit.

May you know what it is to be still and know that He is God. He loves deeply.
