#5075 – When Displeased

Good morning people who turn to God when you are troubled about something.

1 Samuel 8:6 NIV But when they said, “Give us a king to lead us,” this displeased Samuel; so he prayed to the Lord.

What do you do when you are displeased about something?

Do you pray?

So often we turn towards people when we are upset and displeased about something. I’ve seen many examples of this over the last couple of years on social media. People get upset and so they let everyone know. There’s been a lot of social vomit because people have not gone to the Lord as they should.

Sometimes people also resign themselves to a sense of hopelessness. Displeasure can easily give way to despair. When this happens, it is evidence that the problem has our attention more than our God has our attention.

Samuel was displeased, so he prayed to the Lord. Such a short simple statement, but oh so powerful and necessary for every one of us today.

So permit me to ask you again.

What do you do when you are displeased about something?

Do you pray?
