Good morning people who live for the glory of God all the days of your life.
1 Samuel 7:15 NIV Samuel continued as Israel’s leader all the days of his life.
Samuel was a judge and a prophet and there was no retirement for him. Until he died, he served God’s purpose for him on this earth.
Now, before you get too upset, I am not saying that retirement from work is wrong. I know that some of you who are reading this have retired. I pray that you are thoroughly blessed and refreshed in God as you enjoy a well-deserved rest from many decades of working hard.
But what the Lord is highlighting to me today through the trigger of this verse is this: There is no retirement from fulfilling the purposes of God. Let me explain what I mean.
We are all called to walk in intimacy with God and to represent Him in such a way that people ask a question about the hope that is in us. We are called to be salt and light in this world. We are called to be ministers of reconciliation to those who are not in favour with God. We are called to hear the whisper of the Holy Spirit and do all the good works that God has prepared in advance for us to do. We are called to still be living in faith when we leave this natural world.
And this is just a few of the purposes of God for the people of God. And it is for life!
For every reader, this is my simple request: Never retire from pursuing and fulfilling God’s purpose for and through your life.
May we all transition from here into eternity still fully engaged and committed to being about our Father’s business. To this we have been called.
