Good morning people who are thankful for the freeing grace of Jesus Christ.
We were created into the realm of freedom. Now, in Christ, through faith, we have been returned to God’s original position for us; the position of freedom.
Yet one of our greatest challenges in the body of Christ is, we believe the lie that says we are justified by being good enough. We might not say this, but the fruit of our lives, thinking and emotions, often reveal this to be our default position of belief.
So, I find myself meditating deeply on the profound and life-giving truth found in this one small verse.
Galatians 5:4 NIV You who are trying to be justified by the law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace.
If being justified is found in us being good enough – in us obeying the law – then we actually become alienated from Christ. I don’t want this.
I feel the Lord say, “You can’t have it both ways. Either you save yourself or Christ saves you. Either it’s your righteousness or His righteousness.”
I don’t want it to be about how good I am! And the truth is, nor do you! Come on my friends. If this is what it hinges on, we are all in trouble!
But it’s not! It’s about Jesus! It’s about His finished work! It’s about His grace!
It’s about God’s love! It’s about God’s mercy! It’s about God’s kindness!
So, let go of your pursuit for human perfection, and together, let’s embrace the one who is perfect. His name is Jesus, and He is full of grace!
