Good morning people with a personal God
Psalm 91:2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
This passage is written by someone who was going through some major challenges yet look at the language.
“I will say of the Lord…” This is a declaration by faith despite feelings. It is a bold statement that is definite; “I will say:. It’s not “hopefully, maybe, I’ll try” but it is “I will”.
“He is my refuge…” This again is a bold statement made in the present tense. The writer doesn’t say “He will be or I hope He will be” but “He is”. He also did not say “He is a refuge”. He said “He is my refuge”. He declared confidence in a personal God; His God. This word ‘refuge’ is talking about a ‘shelter’ and infers ‘trust’.
“His is…my fortress…” Here is another definite statement; a spoken conviction despite pressing trials. Yes God is my shelter and I trust Him but I also acknowledge He is my fortress. This is a strong word. He is an impregnable fortress; He is a castle, He is my rock!
“My God, in whom I trust” Again he declares aloud to himself and to every accusing and attacking spirit of darkness, “I choose to trust MY GOD completely!” Such faith. Such boldness. Such positive declaration.
I encourage you to declare this truth today as we choose to put our trust in our great God.
