Good morning people who are held safe in the hands of a restorative God.
1 John 1:9 NIV If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
Again, I love the truth of this verse!
There is a quick mention of us confessing our sins – something that we must do in order to be forgiven. Our repentance needs to be genuine.
But then the whole focus shifts immediately and fully to God’s faithfulness!
Oh how we need to be quicker at shifting the focus from ourselves and our moments of sin to God and to His never-ending faithfulness, goodness, kindness, mercy and forgiveness!
God is not only faithful to forgive us from our sins, but He is also faithful to purify us from all unrighteousness – the stain of our sin has been removed! Oh hallelujah!
It is absolutely true that, when God sees us, He sees His Son who is living in us. It is equally true that a forgiven sin no longer exists, such is the power of the name and blood of Jesus Christ!
A few verses later, John so beautifully continues this thought. I want to leave it with you to meditate on today.
1 John 2:1-2 NIV My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.
