#4986 – Pleasing God

Good morning people who deeply desire to please and honour God.

Hebrews 11:5-6 NIV By faith Enoch was taken from this life, so that he did not experience death: “He could not be found, because God had taken him away.” For before he was taken, he was commended as one who pleased God.

Our goal in life should be to please God.

The word please means to gratify entirely, to be fully agreeable with, to be acceptable to.

This is what men and women of God are called to be. We are called to bring our Father in heaven pleasure and delight. We are called to live lives that are fully agreeable with who He is. We are called to be acceptable in His sight.

One of the greatest obstacles to this is an unholy focus of living to appease people. We would often say pleasepeople, but it is God we are called to please, not people.

We are not called to be fully agreeable with every person. We are not called to be acceptable to every person. In fact, in this world, we are called to be different, and different will often mean not pleasing people.

To appease means to pacify or placate (someone) by acceding to their demands. As followers of Jesus Christ, we must stop being drawn towards this pursuit in an ungodly world. Because people demand that we share their point of view is not a good enough reason to displease God.

So, how do we truly please God?

Let’s dive into this tomorrow.
