Good morning friendly people
I cracked open this thought of friendship yesterday and I want to dig a bit deeper.
The truth is every person wants to be liked; we all need friends. This world can be a very difficult place and it would be sad to journey through it without close friends; friends that lift us up and encourage us forward.
Sometimes our focus is on wanting close friends; something we all want. I wonder if a better place to start is with honest self-examination of our own friendliness. Here’s a great verse from the Message paraphrase.
Luke 6:31 Here is a simple rule of thumb for behaviour: Ask yourself what you want people to do for you; then grab the initiative and do it for them!
It may be simple advice but man it is difficult to do at times! The problem is that by nature we sometimes find it difficult to get past our own feelings and emotions. But in order to give to others, we must.
This single piece of advice could change the whole world. Imagine if everyone started living this way? We all know how we would like to be spoken to and treated, we know the attitudes we like to be displayed when we are leading something, we know how we want people to forgive us quickly and completely when we make a mistake
