#4946 – Every Opportunity

Good morning people who take the moments to talk about Jesus to others.

Colossians 4:5 NIV Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity.

The verses directly preceding this is Paul asking the church to pray for him that he would have opportunities to preach Jesus and to have boldness to do this as he should. Remember, he was in prison, not in church.

Then he steps into this verse with a declaration to every believer:

Every encounter we have with an unbeliever is an opportunity for them to see Christ in us the hope of glory.

Obviously this applies when the church is gathered together. We should take every opportunity to preach Jesus and give people the opportunity to respond to Him. Being intentional and missional is imperative for every church.

But this instruction to us is also for every conversation and interaction we have with every unbeliever that we encounter in life. Don’t miss the opportunity to share Jesus!

And this is why Paul says, “Be wise in the way you act towards outsider.” What we do reflects Jesus – good or bad. Our words that we speak reflect Jesus – good or bad.

Wisdom is needed in seeing an opportunity and taking the opportunity. Wisdom is also needed in what we do and what we say.

May people encounter God through our lives.
