Good morning people who refuse to enter 2022 with unforgiveness in your heart.
Colossians 3:13 NIV Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
I find it interesting that this is the verse that we are up to in our walk through the Book of Colossians. This is not planned by me, but I believe it is by God.
God wants us to finish 2021 without unforgiveness in our heart.
Unforgiveness is like a poison that most definitely kills the one who has it. God does not want this for anyone, including you and me.
Paul takes an instruction to forgive others, and he makes it really clear how this should look. He says, forgive as the Lord forgave you. There is nowhere to hide here.
Jesus forgave us while we were sinners, that is, while we were God-haters.
Jesus forgave us before we asked for forgiveness.
Jesus forgave us even though He knew that we would still do things wrong.
There is so much to be said about God’s forgiveness of us – and I encourage you to meditate on this humbling truth more deeply today.
But for now, I want to finish this year by lovingly and strongly encouraging you in God to enter 2022 free from offence, bitterness and unforgiveness. Let it go my friend by handing it (and handing them) to God. Don’t hold on to what will destroy you.
May the grace of God empower you to live free in the glory of God.
Now let’s embrace a new year together.
