Good morning people who have the highest purpose of discovering God more.
Colossians 2:1-3 NIV I want you to know how hard I am contending for you and for those at Laodicea, and for all who have not met me personally. My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
The greatest outcome of a church who encourages each other and who are united in love is a people who enter into the full riches of complete understanding of who God is. I don’t want this truth to be missed today.
Yes, as the church we will and should do many glorious things for God. There are people to be reached. There are programs and events to be run (although the primary purpose of these is so that people can be reached). There is admin and logistics and legal (although the primary purpose of these is so that people can be reached).
But all of this is not primarily for people to join a church, attend an event, be part of a group, or to somehow become better people. All of these are wonderful, but they are not the highest objective.
Knowing God better is the purpose that Paul pursued and constantly spoke about in all of his letters to the church. One of my favourite authors is A.W.Tozer, and his writings constantly focus us in on the all-consuming passion of knowing God more.
This is my prayer today. It is my prayer for me and it is my prayer for you.
Will you receive the invitation from your loving Father to step in more deeply and to spend some intimate time with Him?
This happens in the secret place, but it also happens as we meet together, encouraging each other and being united in love.
