Good morning children who are promised rest
Psalm 91:1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
The Most High is our hiding place and our protection when we are permanently established and remain in Him. What does God promise for those who intentionally live this way?
We are promised rest…ah what a lovely word, ‘rest’. Is this simply talking about having a nap in the afternoon or a good night sleep or is there a deeper meaning? It’s an interesting word and not unlike ‘dwell’. This word means ‘abide, stop, stay permanently’. I think the rest the Most High wants to give us is far richer, deeper and more refreshing that what we can imagine. I think it may be more to do with rest in our spirit and soul than in our body, although not to the exclusion of it. You see, we can rest our body; we can go to bed, take a break and go for a refreshing walk but we can’t bring rest to our spirit and soul too well. We need God to fill us up in the areas of our spirit and soul. We need to allow time for this. We need to sit and soak. It’s in the abiding, the remaining that we are refreshed and find rest.
When was the last time you allowed the Most High to bring you rest as you took time to dwell in His shelter?
