#4791 – Knowing Good

Good morning people who search out God’s word to know what is good.

As I prayerfully consider what foundations need to be strengthened, I want to share one that the Lord has highlighted to me. I pray it both encourages you and it also provides some fuel and focus for you to lean into this further for yourself.

Here’s what I felt the Lord said to me:

Knowing good + doing good > feeling good.

Knowing good empowers us to do good. Doing good empowers us to feel good. Knowing good and doing good is more important than feeling good.

Yet, too often my focus is on trying to feel good. I want to shift my focus back to the foundation of 1) knowing good, and then 2) doing good.

Genesis 1:31 NIV God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day.

What God authors is good. This is what I am to know in increasing measure. What I know, I can then do. There is no place for spiritual ignorance about what is good.

Romans 12:9 NIV Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.

Cling (cleave KJV): ‘to glue, to stick, to join, to keep company’

James 4:17 NIV If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them.

Today, I realign and strengthen the foundation of knowing good and doing good.

What does Father want you to strengthen today?
