#4781 – Praying in Tongues

Good morning people who pray in the Holy Spirit.

My heart is being pulled more and more towards the things of the Spirit. I yearn to hear God’s heart and to know what is important to Him.

Yes, I saturate myself in God’s Word – this will always be the best fuel to hearing the Holy Spirit speak. But I know that even with this, I can self interpret what I read. I want the Holy Spirit to divinely reveal spiritual truth to my spirit.

From this ongoing foundation of God’s Word, I am increasingly being pulled towards prayer. But not prayer as I have often done. My focus truly is shifting from praying for my needs, to praying for God’s kingdom and will to be done.

This requires hearing what’s on God’s heart, and this is where speaking in tongues is helping.

As I am compelled to pray, I start praying in tongues. As I lean into the Spirit, He drops something into my understanding. When He does, I respond in prayer or action. At this point, I continue in my understanding until my understanding is once again lacking. Then I step straight back into praying in tongues.

I love these two statements by the apostle Paul about speaking in tongues:

1 Corinthians 14:18 NIV I thank God that I speak in tongues more than all of you.

1 Corinthians 14:39 NIV Therefore, my brothers and sisters, be eager to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues.

It’s time for more Spirit-led prayers.
